Heavy Metal to Shabby Sweet

Gold has made a HOT comeback so this mirror isn’t really bad as is, especially for just $10 at Goodwill Twinsburg.

I however don’t have much gold décor in my house so I decided to paint it turquoise. No surprise there.

For the paint color I used Pure White Annie Sloan chalk paint mixed with some robin’s egg blue acrylic craft paint. Chalk paint is known for sticking to most any surface without having to prep or prime the surface. Did you hear that? WITHOUT having to prep or prime the surface!

Annie Sloan paint is only available at a few select stores so if you aren’t able to buy it, consider making your own DIY chalk paint using one of the many simple tutorials online.

Rather than placing the mirror back in the frame, I left it open and hung some EASY doily bunting using these doilies I had purchased from the Goodwill Akron Outlet Store as well as others I’ve collected from various garage sales.  (Doily bunting inspired by Simple as That).

First fold the paper doilies in half over a string and glue them shut. Next, hang the banners across the frame and attach to the backside using glue or tape. Done and done!

Just a little paint, some doilies and string and this mirror went from Heavy Metal to Shabby Sweet.

Happy Thrifting,

Katie
