DIY: Thrifted Stand Gets Some Pizzazz

I hope everyone is well and ready for the new year!

This week while at Goodwill I came across this cute little round stand. It was a little beat up cosmetically, but sturdy. My favorite combo. Everyone knows that I’m drawn to furniture that needs a little TLC. Not only will it end up being a unique piece, you can customize it to the color or style you need.

At first I was thinking of just doing a basic paint job. After sanding the stand I thought it would look cute with a faux tin top on it. So off to the store to find paintable faux tin wallpaper. This is great to have on hand and one roll goes a long way.

Before attaching the paper to the top, I painted and distressed the stand. I then attached the paper and painted it to match. After everything was dry I put a dark walnut glaze over everything. And as always, once that was dry I applied a clear top coat. I only did one coat on the bottom of the stand,  but several coats on the top.

The stand needed a little something extra so I added some nail head trim around the top edges to give it some pizzazz.

And here is the completed product.
