Recently, my husband pointed out the fact that we’re in the second quarter of 2017 already…so, in other words, we’re nearly halfway through the new year! That sure went by fast! Welcome to spring 2017!
Pastels are the “it” shades and the Goodwill is the “it” place to get your kids their springtime and holiday outfits!
I have to admit, I really enjoyed strolling through the aisles this month, picking out pretty, light hues and seasonal patterns. I feel like when it comes to spring attire, anything goes! You can pair bright colors with pastels and stripes with khakis or denim. And you can’t forgot to layer! I love layering and springtime it the perfect time to do it!
I started in the girl’s section and found this super-soft cotton dress in the perfect shades — baby blue, pink and white…yes!! This cute dress can be paired with virtually any color leggings. I went for the cuffed jeggings (as a refresher, those are jean-like cotton pants;) and when I saw this embellished denim jacket, I knew I found the cutest outfit for holiday festivities or any spring day!
There were also so many different choices of skirts — from tutu styles to cotton ruffles and corduroy. I loved this pleated corduroy mini skirt with its sweet floral print — perfect for springtime! And adorable for the holiday! I pulled shades from the skirt’s color palette and found this bright purple tank and must-have teal bolero sweater for a bold, but sweet contrast.
Again, coordinating more saturated hues, I took this plum-colored tee and matched it with this peach ruffled skirt, which made a bold, yet pretty contrast. Then I threw over the light-washed denim jacket to complete the look and make it fun!
For boys, there were plenty of colorful choices in sweaters, button-ups and polo style shirts.
This turquoise v-neck sweater jumped out at me immediately. It’s a trendy look on a classic style. I love the color and contrasting thin stripes. Either a pair of khakis or jeans would complete the look for a day spent with family or friends!
Let’s face it, jeans go with anything and if you’re wondering, they’re acceptable to wear on a holiday.
For your little lad who likes a little swag, try putting together a cool colored graphic tee and a classic blazer with his favorite jeans. To give you an idea, I found this pair of nicely worn jeans and paired it with a brand new (with tags) aqua tee shirt and cotton pinstriped blazer. Throw in a pair of Chuck Taylor’s and your boy will be well-styled and ready for springtime fun!
