Each year, Goodwill Industries recognizes true employment champions during Goodwill Week. Successful program participants, as well as employers from across the region and community partners, are honored for their exemplary efforts which turned possibilities into reality.

2010 Celebration of Champions Recognition Ceremonies See the Photos>>
In May 2010, Goodwill presented awards to honor 17 "employment champions" at a “Celebration of Champions” recognition ceremony at its Akron facility on Waterloo Road on May 7th. Goodwill also partnered with the Ashland Evening Lions Club and the Nordonia Hills Rotary Club to host additional celebrations, which occurred during the clubs' regular meetings on May 6th and May 4th, respectively. During the ceremonies, each honoree “champion” was presented with a medal after the speaker read the honorees’ success stories. The Ashland Evening Lions Club hosted Goodwill’s recognition ceremony during its regular dinner meeting where Goodwill honored the following Ashland and Richland County Program Participants, Employers and Community Partner:
The Nordonia Hills Rotary Club hosted Goodwill’s recognition ceremony during its regular lunch meeting where Goodwill honored the following Summit County Program Participant:
In addition to the Champions presentations, Goodwill hosted three Public Open Houses of its Akron Service Center facility and Retail Store. The events featured a behind-the-scenes tour of local Goodwill operations, showing guests Goodwill’s main warehouse where they saw first-hand the process for accepting, sorting, selling, salvaging and recycling donations. Goodwill staff members were on hand to answer questions about the process and about Goodwill’s mission of helping people prepare for, find and retain employment. Goodwill Industries of Akron’s mission is to help individuals prepare for, find, and retain employment.
