It was an event to remember. About 300 attendees indulged in a sampling of foods from some of the finest restaurants in our community, outbid each other in both a silent and live auction, and witnessed an outstanding showcase of vintage fashions. See photo highlights below.
1. Model Susan Strandberg is helped by Goodwill's Pattie Panetta. The more than 45 models started arriving in the afternoon to prepare for the vintage fashion show. 2. Models, Meagan Mealey (left) and Rita Hailey, enjoy the event before the fashion show. Mealey wore a 1960s cocktail dress, likely inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany's. Hailey modeled a 60s Malcolm Starr cocktail dress with space-age influences.
3. Representatives from West Point Market, in Akron, operated one of the food tastings stations. Attendees were able to sample food from 10 area restaurants and fine food businesses. 4. Goodwill's Chairman of the Board, Jim Merklin, and WKDD's morning co-host, Angela, shared the podium to prepare for the live auction. Angela was the evening's master of ceremonies.
5. Nicki Owens showcased a 1950s summer formal made with a bitter-lemon organdy overlay, with taffeta and tulle underskirts. 6. Model, Marilyn Keith, fanned the pleated, angel-like sleeves of the late 70s formal she wore on the runway.
7. May Jo Hoffman comes back up the runway in a celebration read cotillion dress from the 50s, topped with a chenille cape. Becky Considine, starts down the runway, in a silver 60s formal made with embossed Lurex. 8. Lisa Mansfield, comes back up the runway in a 50s Sunday dress, designed with machine lace, taffeta and stain touches. Alita Rogers starts down the runway in a 1959, peacock blue cocktail dress, made of taffeta.
