Goodwill appreciates donations, but there are some general rules to follow when making a donation:

  • Be sure all items can be used for resale and are washed or cleaned.

  • Test electrical and mechanical equipment.

  • Verify all donated items meet Consumer Product Safety Commission standards and have not been recalled or banned

  • Complete a donation receipt and only leave items when an attendant is on duty

 

Although Goodwill Akron accepts most donations, we are unable to accept the following items due to safety reasons:

  • Furniture with broken springs or frames, major tears or worn out fabric.

  • Hospital beds without the mattress

  • Mattress and box springs with stains, tears or lumps; coil type bedsprings

  • Pool tables

  • Encyclopedias

  • Stripped televisions

  • Large appliances

  • Toilets, sinks, vanities, etc.

  • Firearms, ammunition, fireworks

  • Food or alcoholic beverages

  • Used auto parts, tires, windows, doors, building materials, paint, chemicals, household garbage or gasoline

  • Infant Cribs

The store manager or donation attendant has final say on all donations.
