Tips for Donating
Goodwill appreciates donations, but there are some general rules to follow when making a donation:
- Donate items that you would feel comfortable giving to a family member or friend.
- Box or bag all donations in lift-able amounts.
- Be sure all items can be used for resale and are washed or cleaned.
- Test electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Whenever possible, please donate clean, usable furniture to Goodwill Retail Stores, as opposed to Attended Donation Centers.
- Verify all donated items meet Consumer Product Safety Commission standards and have not been recalled or banned.
- Only leave items when an attendant is on duty. Dumping is illegal – Ohio Revised Code 3734.03 – violators will be prosecuted.
